In a world of challenges and insecurity, how can we find confidence and live joyful, faith-filled lives? How can we gain the blessings promised to the Lord’s covenant people?
Sister Julie B. Beck, former Relief Society General President, offers answers to these questions in Joy in the Covenant. She writes: “The reflections in this book are personal expressions of deep-seated feelings and beliefs. . . . In these reflections, I draw heavily on the lives of my parents and the lessons I have learned from them. They were my first earthly teachers, and their examples formed the foundation for my faith”.
Sister Beck prompts us to reflect on our identity and purpose, both as members of earthly families and the house of Israel. Her insights are simultaneously challenging and encouraging, profound and practical, authoritative and friendly. The messages found in Joy in the Covenant speak to all of the joy that can be found in living the gospel of Jesus Christ and in being part of God’s covenant family.
Joy in The Covenant Review
Life can be challenging, even in the best of times. It’s so easy to get caught up in the minutiae of day-to-day living and forget to look for the joy. When we remember, and remember to hold on to our faith, we can find it in everywhere. That was my takeaway from Julie B. Beck’s new book, Joy in the Covenant.
This is a great addition to your gospel study library. Because each chapter is based on a talk she has given at some point in her life, they are self-contained study bites, allowing you to focus on individual topics. And, at the same time, they are all related and build on one another.
I really enjoyed her straightforward style, her personal stories and her constant reinforcement that, yes, we can do it and we can make it. I always find those who can teach through the example of their own experiences while encouraging us to learn through ours, and Sister Beck is a master of that.
Are you seeking more clarity in your life? Are you looking for some direction? Joy in the Covenant will help you and give you the lift you need. While she writes for women, this book has insights and inspiration for both men and women.
