Let’s Eat the Monster Mash!

monster mash halloween recipe
by Marie Leslie

Happy Halloween!  Here’s a quick and easy treat to enjoy on Halloween.  We’re big trail mix lovers at our house, so naturally we’ve come up with our own Halloween Trail Mix, which we’ve dubbed Monster Mash!

This recipe is SO easy, you won’t even need to measure.  All you need is a big bowl and some hungry little goblins.

First, take one 10- to 12-ounce bag of Halloween M&M’s (yes, you can use the regular ones, but it is Halloween, after all).

Add one 12-14-ounce bag of Reese’s Pieces–Reese’s Pieces just naturally come in cool Halloween colors.

Next, add 1/2 bag of Brach’s Caramel Candy Corn.  I suppose you could use some other brand, but I don’t know that anyone else makes it, and Brach’s is yummy.

Then add about 1/2 pound or so of shelled (duh!) roasted peanuts.  We’re fans of Planters Dry Roasted with Sea Salt (mostly because they sell them at Costco and we need an industrial-size tub of peanuts for this crowd) but you can use any kind of roasted peanuts you want.  We do recommend the salted ones.  It’s a nice counterpoint to the sweetness of the candy.

Finally, finish off your creation with maybe 1/2 pound or so of raisins.  If you like raisins, add more.  If you don’t, add less.

Now, mix it all together.  You can use a big spoon.  I, personally, use my well-washed hands.

You’re done!

Light the jack-o-lanterns, wait for the trick-or-treaters to arrive and enjoy your Monster Mash!

We do–and for most of the other holidays, too. Do we need to send some over?
