Does your writing creativity need a little jump start?
I’m just getting back into a writing project that’s been set aside far too long. My goal is to finish it before my birthday, so I decided to give myself a little boost & perk up my writing space.
And then I decided I liked these quotes so much, I should share them with you.
So here are ten of my favorite writing quotes.
Feel free to share them with your writer friends.
If you would not be forgotten as soon as you are gone either write things worth reading or do things worth writing. — Benjamin Franklin
“If you can quit then quit. If you can’t quit you’re a writer.” –R.A. Salvatore
“Do not worry about originality. You couldn’t get rid of it if you tried.” –Robert Henri
“Exercise the writing muscle every day, even if it is only a letter, notes, a title list, a character sketch, a journal entry. Writers are like dancers, like athletes. Without that exercise, the muscles seize up.” –Jane Yolen
“The most effective way to do it is to do it.” –Amelia Earhart
“I write to discover what I know.” –Flannery O’Connor
“Be yourself. Above all, let who you are, what you are, what you believe, shine through every sentence you write.” –John Jakes
“The only writer to whom you should compare yourself is the writer you were yesterday.” –David B. Schlosser
“If you’re going to be a writer, the first essential is just to write. Do not wait for an idea. Start writing something and the ideas will come. You have to turn the faucet on before the water starts to flow.” –Louis L’Amour
“If you find yourself asking yourself (and your friends) “Am I really a writer? Am I really an artist?” Chances are you are. The counterfeit innovator is wildly self-confident. The real one is scared to death.” –Steven Pressfield
